Samsara

Samsara, which in Sanskrit means the wheel of life and death, is a video work, which I conceived as a moving mandala. This is the first time that I used the discipline of yoga as an artistic medium.

The sequence of movements which I carry out continuously  is called « the sun salutation ». The perpetual repetition of these movements symbolizes the Samsara itself. The seasonal images of the four elements (earth, fire, water and air) on which I cast life is like the devouring ants which at  the end represent death.

Watching the video in an endless loop reveals the mandala of the samsara itself.
