YANTRA a Fragmented Totality

Over a period of seven days I create a 10 foot square Sri Yantra, a tantric structure made up of nine interwoven triangles symbolizing the union of the feminine and masculine elements in the Creation.

The audience participates in the building of the Yantra (meaning “support” in Sanskrit) handing me the plastic chips that are in the three primary colors representing the three primary feelings established by the psychologist Jacques Cosnier: love, hate and anxiety.

Once complete, I fuse the plastic chips together at a high temperature and then dismember the Yantra into small pieces and distribute these to the audience. This ritual allegorically transmutes the three feelings by fire and allows the audience to regain them in a purified form.
