Out Loud

Out Loud is a Performance Piece prepared for Unwrap the Present, a monthly event organized by the artist Joëlle Valterio, in Bern, Switzerland.

Standing amongst the audience, I discretely start to turn around and slowly open my arms in a circle in front of my heart. This is a gesture of inclusion, altruism, which grows to embrace the people. A gesture of patience, perseverance and courage, since « to include » is not dissimilar to opening one’s heart with the risk of rejection. This awareness reveals true dignity, internal beauty both tragic and comic, dark joy and the multi-facetted nature of grace.
